Zippered Triple Stranded Cardigan Materials

Size: Small,Medium,Large (32,34,36)

  • Pure and Simple 100% Silk (260 yds, 100gm)
  • 3(3,4) Pure and Simple Moroccan Blue
  • 2(2,3) Pure and Simple Multi Blue /Green
  • 2(2,3) Pure and Simple Gloxinia
  • Zipper 18 (20,22) inches, st markers
  • Needle Straight US 8 & Straight US 7

Gauge: K1,P1 rib US 7-18 stitches equal 4 inches.St st US 8-14 stitches equal 4 inches.

Zippered Triple Stranded Cardigan Instructions

Knitting The Sleeve (make 2)

On size 7 needle , using (A), cast on 33 (38,43) stitches and work K1,P1 rib for 3 rows. Change to (B) and K1,P1 until cuff measures 3″. Change to size 8 needle and St st.Increase 1 stitch each side every 1.75 inches until 43 (50,57) stitches are on needle and sleeve measures 16 (17,18) inches. Place on st holder.

Knitting Back

With (A),cast on 76 (80,85) st on size US 7 needle. Work in rib K1,P1 rib pattern for 3 rows. Change to (B) and continue in pattern until rib measures 2 inches. Change to size US 8 needle and decrease 4 (6,8) sts evenly spaced across work. Continue in st st for 8 (8.5,9). Increase 1 st each side once 78 (82,88). Continue until back measures 12 (12.5,13) inches. Place on stitch holder.

Knit the Right Front and Left.

With (A),cast on 38 (40,43) sts on size US 7 needle. Work in rib K1,P1 rib pattern for 3 rows. Change to (B) and continue in pattern until rib measures 2 inches. Change to size US 8 needle and decrease 2 (3,4) sts evenly spaced across work 36 (38,41). Continue in st st for 8 (8.5,9). Increase 1 st each side once 37 (39,42). Continue until back measures 12 (12.5,13) inches. Place on stitch holder. Now the Left Front. Work the same as right front,but increase 1 sts at beg on row at 8 (8.5,9).

Shape Raglan

Being careful not to twist stitches, transfer all pieces to larger needle (right front,sleeve,back sleeve,left front), placing markers between pieces. Do not join in a circular fashion. Knit flat. Work 4 rows st st. With right side facing, work until 3 sts remain before marker, K2tog,K1,transfer marker to right needle,K1,K2tog work across row and repeat* to * at each marker. Work to end. Purl back and continue in st st decreasing at markers on every knit row until piece measures 18 (18.5,19).

Shape Neck and Neckband

With right side facing, transfer first 5 sts to a st holder. Knit to end of work, while continuing to decrease raglan shaping as before. Next row;place first 5 sts on holder and purl to end. On alternate rows,transfer 3 sts onto holder with the other 5, then 2, then 1 st 3(4,5) times until each st holder holds 13 (14,15) sts.

Now for the neckband with right side facing, place sts from holder onto smaller needle and decrease across to 68 (72,76) sts while changing to *K1,P1* rib. Continue in multi color until neckband measures 2 inches. Change to color (A) and *K1,P1* rib for 3 rows.

Bind off,fasten threads. Press lightly with warm iron and damp cloth. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew in zipper.
