Lounging round the home is best done in a combine of hand knit socks. You won’t wish to require the Lazy Day Knit Socks off of your feet once you place them on. Your feet can keep nice and heat after you wear these cozy socks around the house. Regardless of what the weather is like outside, the intense colours of those socks can instantly place you in a very good mood. Knitting up these socks provides you ultimate control over the match and form, that means that you simply will produce the socks of your dreams.

Materials

  • RED HEART® With Love®: one skeane each 1805 Bluebell A, 1502 Iced greenish blue B and 1303 Aran C Susan Bates® Double-pointed needles: one set every fivemm (US 8) and 5.5mm (US 9)
  • Yarn needle
  • sew markers

Gauge

16 sts = 4” [10 cm]; twenty two rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st with larger needles. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to get the gauge.

Note: Directions are for sock size seven – nine; changes for nine – eleven and ten – twelve are in parentheses

Special Stitches

SKP- Slip one, K1, pass slip st over

K2tog-Knit two sts along

P2tog-Purl two sts along

Stripe Pattern

Rounds 1-2: A

Rounds 3-4: B

Knit Instructions

Cuff

With smaller size needles and A, cast on twenty six (30, 34) sts. Divide sts equally around needles. be part of to work in rounds, being careful to not twist sts. Place marker for starting in cricles.

Rounds 1: *K1, p1, repeat from * around.

Repeat in cricle one till piece measures one” [ two.five cedi meter ] from starting.

Next Row: Switch to large size needles and work twenty two (28, 34) rounds in Stripe Pattern (2 rows A, two rows B) ending with B (A, B).

Heel

Place fourteen (16, one8) sts on needle 1 for Heel.

Leave remaining twelve (14, 16) unworked sts on needle two (instep).

Heel Flap

Row 1: change to C. Slip one st purl-wise, purl to finish of row, turn.

Row 2: *Slip one st knit-wise, knit 1; rep from * across row, turn. Reop Rows one – two , six  ( 6 , 6 ) times – 14 ( 14 , 14 ) rows.

Turn Heel

Row 1: Purl7 ( eight , nine ) , purl 2 together , purl 1 , turn.

Row 2: Slip one, k1 (1, 1), k2tog, k1, turn.

Row 3: Slip one, p2 (2, 2), p2tog, p1, turn. Row 4: Slip one, k3 (3, 3), k2tog, k1, turn.

Row 5: Slip one, p4 (4, 4), p2tog, p1, turn.

Row 6: Slip one, k5 (5, 5), k2tog, k1, turn.

8 sts stay for size 7-9.

For size 9/11

Row 7: Slip one, p6, p2tog, turn.

Row 8: Slip one, k6, k2tog, turn.

8 sts stay for size 9/11.

For size 10-12

Row 7: Slip one, p6, p2tog, p1, turn.

Row 8: Slip one, k7, k2tog, k1 turn.

10 sts stay for size ten-12.

Gusset

With right aspect facing, obtain and knit seven (7, 7) sts on left aspect of Heel Flap, place marker for 1st Gusset, knit across remaining twelve (14, 16) unworked sts on second needle, place marker for Second Gusset, obtain and knit seven (7, 7) sts on opposite aspect of Heel Flap, knit 4, (4, 5) sts, place marker for starting of round– thirty four (36, 40) sts.

Note: starting in cricles should now be higher than center of back heel.

Divide sts around needles as follows:

Needle 1: eleven (11, 12) sts.

Needle 2: twelve (14, 16) sts.

Needle 3: eleven (11, 12) stitches.

Heels Gussets decrease rounds as follows:

Round 1:

Needle 1: Knit to last four sts, k2tog, k2.

Needle 2: Knit all sts.

Needle 3: k2, SKP, knit to finish —32 (34, 38) sts total stay on needles.

Round 2: Knit all sts. change to B (A, B).

Rounds 3-8 (6, 6): Repeat Rounds 1-2 till seven (8, 9) sts stay on Needles one and 3-26 (30, 34) sts total stay on needles.

Foot

Rounds 15-30 (36, 42): Continue operating round two in Stripe Pattern (2 rows A, 2 rows B).

Shape Toe change to C.

Round 1:

Needle 1: K, to last three sts, SKP, k1.

Needle 2: K1, k2tog, knit to last three sts, SKP, k1.

Needle three: Knit to last 3 sts, SKP, k1. K1, k2tog, knit to end—22 (26, 30) sts total stay on needles.

Round 2: K all sts.

Repeat Rounds 1-2 till ten (14, 14) sts stay.

Finishing

Graft toe sts along using the kitchener sew (see tutorial on page 13-14).
