To Fit Chest: 17 (18, 19, 20)”.

Finished Chest Measurement: 18½ (19½, 20½, 21½)”.

RED HEART® “Baby Clouds™”: 2 skeins 9322 Creamsicle.

Crochet Hooks: 10mm [US N-15] and 6.5mm

[US K-10.5].

Yarn needle, four 7/8” buttons, sewing needle and thread.

GAUGE: 8 sts = 4”; 8 rows = 4” in single crochet with larger hook.

CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Body (Worked in one piece to underarms)

With larger hook, chain 37 (39, 41, 43).

Row 1 (Right Side): Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across; turn – 36 (38, 40, 42) single crochet.

Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in each single crochet across; turn.

Repeat Row 2 until 3½ (4, 4½, 5)” from beginning, end by working a wrong side row.

Divide for Fronts and Back-Right Front

Chain 1, single crochet across first 8 (8, 9, 9) single crochet; turn. Work even for 2½ (3, 3½, 4)”, end by working a wrong side row.

Shape Neck

Slip st in first 3 (3, 4, 4) single crochet, chain 1, single crochet in next 5 single crochet; turn – 5 single crochet. Work even for 1½”. Armhole should measure 4 (4½, 5, 5½)”. Fasten off.

Back

With right side facing, attach yarn in next st of last long row; chain 1, single crochet in same st as joining and next 19 (21, 21, 23) single crochet; turn – 20 (22, 22, 24) single crochet. Work even until same length as Right Front to shoulder. Fasten off.

Left Front

With right side facing, attach yarn in next st of last long row; chain 1, single crochet in same st as joining and in each single crochet to end’ turn – 8 (8, 9, 9) single crochet. Complete to correspond to Right

Front, reversing neck shaping.

Sleeves

With larger hook, chain 15. Work in single crochet same as for Body over 14 single crochet, shaping sides by inc 1 st each end of every 3rd row until there are 16 (18, 20, 22) single crochet. Work even until 5 (6½, 7½, 8)” from beginning. Fasten off.

With right side facing and smaller hook, work 1 row single crochet across lower sleeve edge.

FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeve seams. Set in sleeves.

Neck Edging

With right side facing and smaller hook, attach yarn at right front neck edge; ch 1, work single crochet evenly to shoulder seam, across back, and down to corner of left neck edge; turn.

Work 2 rows even in single crochet. Fasten off.

Button Band and Lower Edging

Row 1: With right side facing and smaller hook, attach yarn at left front neck edge; chain 1, work single crochet evenly down edge, 3 single crochet in corner, work single crochet across lower edge, 3 single crochet in corner, and work single crochet evenly up right front edge; turn.

Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in each single crochet around, working 3 single crochet in each corner as before; turn.

Buttonhole Row 3 (Work on right front for girls, left

front for boys): Mark positions for 4 buttonholes on appropriate front. Working corners as before, chain 1, [single crochet in each single crochet to marker, chain 1, skip 1 single crochet] 4 times, single crochet in each single crochet to end. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Sew on buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
