Bumble Knitted Cat Toy

It’s time to make something special for our furry buddy. This free knitting pattern is a really cute bumble knitted cat toy which is a little bee attached to a string. Create a unique toy for your cat with easy instructions in the knitting pattern. Great toy for a lot of hours playing and entertainment. Your cat will love this little toy. Great for a gift to your fellow cat lovers!

Bumble Knitted Cat Toy Materials

  • 4 colors of yarn, mine was acrylic and came from the dollar store, spare no expense 😉 :
    MC = black
    CC1 = yellow
    CC2 = white
    CC3 = blue
  • Fiberfill, scrap yarn, or fabric to stuff the toy
  • Catnip – optional but adds to the fun
  • 1 set of double-pointed needles, whatever size you need to knit your yarn up tightly. I used US # 4.
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

ABBREVIATIONS
CO = Cast on
BO = Bind off
K = knit
KFB = knit into front and back of the stitch
K2T = knit two together
M1 = make 1 stitch
sts = stitches

Bumble Knitted Cat Toy Instructions

Body – knit in the round (make 1)
With Main Color, Cast On 8. Join being careful not to twist (8 stitches)
Note: Beginning with Rounds 1 and 2 in Main Color, alternate knitting 2 rows with Main Color and 2 rows with CC for Bee stripes.
Round 1: Knit all stitches.
Round 2: knit into the front and back of the stitch in each stitch. 16 stitches.
Round 3: Knit all stitches.
Round 4: *Knit 2, Make 1 stitch* repeat across row. 24 stitches.
Round 5: Knit all stitches.
Round 6: *Knit 3, Make 1 stitch* repeat across row. 32 stitches.
Rounds 7-15: Knit all stitches.
Round 16: *Knit 2, knit two together* repeat across row
Round 17: Knit all stitches.
Round 18: *Knit 1, knit two together* repeat across row
Round 19: Knit all stitches.
Pause here, weave in cast on tail and stuff Bee body with fiberfill and cat nip, then continue.
Round 20: *knit two together* repeat across row. 8 stitches.
Round 21: Knit all stitches.
Note: Tie off Yellow color now and leave tail inside of Bee body, continue using Main Color only for Bee’s head.
Round 22: *Knit 1, Make 1 stitch* repeat across row. 16 stitches.
Round 23: Knit all stitches.
Round 24: *Knit 2, Make 1 stitch* repeat across row. 24 stitches.
Round 25: Knit all stitches.
Round 26: *Knit 1, knit two together* repeat across row. 16 stitches.
Round 27: Knit all stitches.
Pause here and finish stuffing Bee’s body and head with fiberfill and catnip, then continue.
Round 28: *knit two together* repeat across row. 8 stitches.
Cut yarn leaving approx. 6-inch tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches gathers and tie tightly. Weave in end.

Wings – knit flat (make 2)
With White color, Cast On 8.
Row 1: Knit 7. Turn.
Row 2 and all even numbered rows: Knit to end. Turn.
Row 3: Knit 6. Turn.
Row 5: Knit 5. Turn.
Row 7: Knit 4. Turn.
Row 9: Knit 5. Turn.
Row 11: Knit 6. Turn.
Row 13: Knit 7. Turn.
Row 15: Bind Off 8.
Weave in ends and sew to the Bee’s back.

Cord – knit flat on 2 dpns (make 1)
Pick up and knit 3 stitches in the center of the Bee’s back.
Knit I-cord until cord measures approx 40 inches, bind off. Make a finger-sized loop at the end of the I-cord and use the tail of the yarn to stitch the loop shut, and weave in any ends.
