Blanket measures approximately 30” x 30”.

RED HEART® “Soft Baby®”: 3 skeins No. 7588 Lilac MC, 2 skeins No. 8885 Giggle Print CC

Crochet Hook: 5mm [US H-8].

Yarn needle.

GAUGE: 16 sts = 4”; 10 rows = 4” in pattern with 2 strands of yarn held together. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

NOTE: Hold 2 strands of yarn together as one throughout.

With MC, chain 123.

Row 1 (Right Side): Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each across; turn – 122 single crochet.

Row 2: Chain 1, single crochet in first 2 single crochet, * chain 2, skip next 2 single crochet, single crochet in next 2 single crochet; rep from * across; turn.

Row 3: Chain 3, * 4 dc in next chain-2 sp; rep from * to last 2 single crochet;skip next single crochet, dc in last single crochet; turn.

Row 4: Chain 1, single crochet in first 2 dc, * chain 2, skip next 2 dc, single crochet in next 2 dc; rep from * across working last single crochet in top of chain-3;turn.

Row 5: Chain 3, * 4 dc in next chain-2 sp; rep from * to last 2 single crochet;skip next single crochet, dc in last single crochet; turn.

Rep Rows 4 and 5 for pattern and work in Stripe Pattern as follows: 10 more rows MC, 4 rows CC, 2 rows MC, 2 rows CC, 2 rows MC, 4 rows CC, 14 rows MC, 4 rows CC,2 rows MC, 2 rows CC, 2 rows MC, 4 rows CC, 14 rows MC.

Next Row: With MC, rep Row 4.

Last Row: Chain 1, single crochet in each st across. Fasten off.

FINISHING-Lower Edging: To give the foundation chain a firm edge, with right side facing, join MC with a sl st in first chain and sl st in each chain across. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Fringe: Matching fringe color to rows, cut 10” lengths of yarn. Holding 8 strands together, fold in half, forming a loop; insert hook from wrong side of fabric into a dc row end and into the loop; draw the loop through the fabric;draw the yarn ends through the loop and tighten. Trim ends. Make tassels on both sides of afghan in every dc row.
