For the knit family hats pattern you will need Red Heart Super Saver: 1 skein each 313 Aran (girl), 631, Light Sage (boy), 341 Light Grey (woman), 389 Hunter Green (man).Susan Bates® Knitting Needles: 5.5 millimeters [US 9].

TENSION: 14 stitches = 4” (10 cedimeters), 20 rows = 4” (10 cedimeters) in Rib Stitch

CHECK YOUR TENSION. Use any size needles to obtain the tension.

Special Stitches SSK – Slip next 2 stitches, knitwise, to right needle, insert point of left needle through the front of stitches, knit these stitches together through the back loop.K2 x P2 Rib – Knit the knit sts, Purl the purl sts.

Cast on 62 (70, 78) stitches.

Row 1 (Right side): (Knit2, Purl2) across.

Row 2 (Wrong Side): Purl2, Knit2 across.

Continue to work in Knit2 x Purl2 Rib (Knit the knit stitches, Purl the purl stitches) until piece measures approximately 5 (6, 6)” [12.7 (15,15) cedimeters] from cast on edge, ending by working a wrong side row.

Row 1 (Right side): Knit across.

Row 2: Purl across.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for Body until piece measures approximately 8 (9, 9)” [20 (23, 23) cedimeters] from cast on edge, ending by working a wrong side row.

Row 4: Purl across.

Cut yarn, leaving a 16” (40.6 cm) end.

Thread yarn needle with the end and weave through remaining stitches; draw up firmly; fasten securely.

FINISHING

With right sides together and matching stitches, sew seam. Following instructions on package, make one medium size pompom and attach securely to Crown of Hat.
